Hooolyy sh!t!!! I think Harry looks determined - I also think the elf behind Harry, holding the sword, is Dobby. And yes, Ron and Hermione look absolutely terrified I think in the American cover version, the Colosseum look-a-like building or so called 'bridge' is the same thing represented in the UK version... which may have also appeared obvious but I thought I'd put that in =D... which leaves some speculation as to where that really is. I don't think it's Gringotts... Also, in Harry's glasses, it looks like the outline of something, a person or a jewel or what? I don't think the red and orange colours represent fire, I think they represent a sunset - which makes me think that this battle isn't held at the MoM, it seems to be outdoors. And as for the shadows in the background of the American cover, I think they're people. Maybe Hogwarts students? I think Harry knows he can't go back to Hogwarts, but that doesn't mean everyone else can't. Mind you I don't think many of the parents would want their kids going there anymore. Though there does seem to be activity still at Hogwarts, as most of the lights are on... And is Prongs smiling because Harry has come to join him? Sorry if I was stating the obvious a bit but y'know...

The snake could be Nagini?
She is important to the story due to her venom kept Voldemort alive, Voldie can posses her - when she attacked Arthur Weasley, She could be a Horcrux and she is the opposite to Fawkes - fawkes tears heal wounds and Nagini's venom kills.

Elise - Thats a damn good idea...I never thought of it like that.
Her venom definatly has some sort of magical properties if it can keep Voldemort alive...and I guess, seeing as she hasn't played a huge roll in the pervious books, she will most probably have a bigger roll in this one.

One thing about the UC cover, and I think it was mentioned, was that it looks like Harry and Voldemort are fighting the same thing. So maybe Harry joins forces with him? And it looks like the Dep. of Mysteries to me...
