What did you think of the movie?
I absolutely adored it. I was beautifully put together, and the imagery and music complimented everything.
Snape. looked. fucking. hot. whewwwwwwwww!
I hate that they left out the funeral and the hogwarts battle, and spent so much damn time of the lavender brown nonsense.
but my oh my, after a fiasco of a fifth movie, this one truly redeemed itself!

Oh goodness I went to 3 different theaters and it was sold out but then this man waiting in the lobby of a theater saw me and my friend and sold us his tickets b/c he didnt wanna see it Anyways, I loveddddddd the movie. Maybe that's because I read the book 4 years ago and didnt really remember much, but as a movie--it was pretty good. I'm sure if I compare it to the book, it might not be as great or accurate, but I dont have any complaints about this one. I agree with Ghost, imagery and music was great. I loved the Hermione/Ron parts<3. I wish there was more Snape...but OMG now I can say Malfoy was uber smexy! He really did it for me last night lol Poor Dumbledore...the death scene made even the 40 yr old in front of me cry but it didnt move me as much as the book scene did (i bawled). Only thing that they should've done differently was go more into detail about the Horcrux since that's the whole issue in the next movie!

So I feel like there's a couple clashing elements in the movie that made it really good and really bad.
First, the acting got SO. MUCH. BETTER. Not neccesarily where the big DanRad or Emma's concerned, but I was rarin' to lick Tom Felton's balls and of course the ensemble's always good, and Slughorn was fucking amazing. Also where did Rupert learn to act all of the sudden?? The guy that plays Dean is hot (and with a name like Alfie...! aw!) and Bonnie did a pretty good job too.
Baby Tom Riddle was amazing also, but it was sad they couldn't get the 16-year-old tom from movie 2 because he was definitely better than the new one they had for this film.
At first it pissed me off that Ginny kissed Harry in the RoR but then I decided I kinda liked it because that's her personality, to go out and get what she wants.
Also related to that is all the funny bits and the fact that much of the script was straight from the book, and that they included minor plot points that usually get sacrified in the movies for the sake of the big plot. So I really enjoyed being able to say the lines along with the movie, even when seeing it for the first time, because I know many of them by heart from the book.
I didn't like that Snape's hair looked so.... clean and feathered. He's supposed to be beautifully greasy!!
The coloring of the movie was so much darker, and also all the adult characters looked so much older. THat was sad but true to the book, I think.
But it was the way they twisted the major plot points that really pissed me off. Like if I hadn't read the book, I'd be thinking, "What the fuck is a half-blood prince? And why's it Snape? And where was adult Voldie in this movie? And what's a Horcrux? What are the different Horcruxes that Voldie chose? And why doesn't Dumbledore have a handle on the situation? And why did they go to a fucking cave? And what was that ring? And why was Dumbledore's hand burnt?" And so on. Also that they didn't include the main battle. WTF.
The worst part of all was that they downplayed the Harry vs. Snape bit at the end. Bellatrix was dancing away in the background, which was hilarious, but really took away from Harry calling Snape a coward and that whole interaction. ARGH.
The Dumbledore scene was really sad and there was even a girl in the back of the theatre SOBBING HER FACE OFF. It was sad.
All in all great movie, for all the minor points, but how the hell are they gonna explain everything in the last two movies? At any rate, I'm going to see it again on Monday and again the week after. Haha.

I agree with so much with what has already been said. After OotP I was very worried that the series had been left to the hands of Yates, but this was a beautiful film! I don't think anything will match the artyness of Alfonso's PoA but the imagery in this was wonderful - especially the smoky going into a penseive memory scenes. They used some fabulous scenic shots, the sets were great - I loved Diagon Alley and then all the windy side streets leading to Knockturn Alley. I also loved how so much of Hogwarts was shown in this film This. Totally. Especially Tom Felton as Draco - he really stepped up to a meatier chunk of screen time action and had such presence when he was on. Emma even managed to reign in her eyebrows a little which is a definite achievement!! Jim Broadbent is awesome anyway but I loved him as Horace And Luna is needing more screentime - I actually liked how they made it her who found Harry on the train, that worked despite the fact it was completely random that Luna was just mooching round the train once everyone else had got off, but then it is Luna so random just works! Not quite sure what the point of destroying the Burrow was though, and since when have the Weasleys lived in the middle of a swampy corn field? I guess they added it for a little mid-film action but why add that in and then completely ignore the battle at the end!!!! I found the ending a little anti-climactic. It's like no-one even knew the DE's inside Hogwarts and they just skipped out of there like they were never even there, apart from a splatted Dumbledore and a Dark Mark. It was much more evocative in the book when they arrived back to Hogsmeade and saw the mark hovering over Hogwarts and then raced to the rescue. Snape appeared merely bored at the end. Harry got the 'Fight back, you coward' line in but it just didn't work without Snape's angry retort. The above is my only substantial gripe, of course there were little niggles but then there are always going to be as the can never translate the whole book to screen. Overall, very good effort and more of the prettiness please!!

Blehhhhh. It was okay. Acting was a tad better but still really not a fan of how they cast the trio, even after all these years (funny that they did such an amazing job with the supporting roles). Kudos to Emma for reading 'tear drop' on her cue card and actually letting one roll... Dan Rad has such gayface, but he made me laugh this film (scene in Hagrid's hut). & Rupert just gets uglier with age (sorry Grint-lickers...!) REALLY REALLY REALLY could have done without the children of the corn scene/burrow burning down bit. I couldn't even remember if that was in the book while watching, because the sequence was so random... yeah I need to reread my HBP!!! The end seemed a little too quick. While reading I was just like =O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and while watching I was like "..." Not because I knew what to expect, but because it seemed underwhelming onscreen as opposed to in my head. Really wanted Rickman to scream "DON'T CALL ME COWARDDDD' but that shit didn't go down... The whole Hermald thing made me sick - they really do worsen each other's character... I wanted to jump out of my seat, moon them, and yell STOP FUCKINGGGG WHININGGGGG ! Didn't though, for the sake of my boyfriend next to me.=) Harry and Ginny... I don't mind them, but the girl who plays Ginny looks like she has horcrux up her ass, always. Can your mouth not be a straight line for one minute?! Visually, it was a nice watch - but it didn't emotionally strike me even half so much as the book did. Too much lag time and suchhh.

Just got back and meh.
Why did they feel the need to add pointless bits and then leave important bits out. What was the point of casting a Fenrir Greyback if he doesn't do anything except stand there with a stupid grin on his face?
Who's Helena Bonham Carter sleeping with now to get a bigger role?
Were we meant to believe that Harry would just stand under that thing and not do owt? Why not just do what happened in the book there with the body bind etc. Loved Weasley's Wizard Weezes, such a great set, pity it wasn't in the film for longer and Fred and George for that matter. And will we ever see Bill? Or Scrimgeour?
And what was all that shit in the room of requirement, the whole point was that we didn't know what Malfoy was up to till the last minute. And no funeral for Dumbledore, just Emma Watson telling Dan Rad he's thick and Grint sat there looking like he's had a full frontal labotomy?
And I still want to cave in Emma Watsons smirking, non acting face in, she having botox already? her face barely moved!

Oh and how the fuck can death eaters fly about? And why go to all the effort of adding effects to destroy the millennium bridge at the beginning and then never mention it at all.
And I agree about the cave, I went to see it with my mate who hasn't read the books and he was like "wtf is going on?"

This film has been my favourite so far out of all the series. The acting seems better not amazing, not as bad as the others Dan Rad especially i usually hate him.
I think the ending was too rushed and the fact that there wasn't the big battle after Dumbledore dies makes no sense. As if none of the teachers would come to see whats going on and fight they are all pretty good at magic after all and most in the order of phoenix. Also none of the Order are shown patrolling around etc. Which i think downplays the danger of Voldie . I was pleased that they didn't focus too much on Harry's obsession with Draco because that did my nut in the books.
I thought the flower//fish//Lily scene that Slughorn told Harry about was lovely. My mum was crying her eyes out! Bless.
The scene at the end where they all lighted their wands up and got rid of the Dark Mark was cute as well the whole metaphor of light vs. dark etc.
But Dumbledores death wasn't half as emotional as i thought it would be, in the book theres Hagrid saying that everything would be alright because Dumbledore was there is what got to me when i was reading it. Also i read in an interview with Dan Rad that when they were doing the Dumbledore death scene that Micheal Gambon fell asleep while he was supposed to be 'dead' and was snoring so that Dan Rad had to poke him awake made me giggle in the cinema which earned me a few evil look from those around me.
But my favourite bit in the film was when Snape found Harry under the tower and put his finger to his lips made me melt a bit. So sexy. (:

PS I'm not completely mental and paying crazy theatre prices multiple times..... I work at a theatre so I can see it for free whenever I feel like it. It's actually quite nice. I'm going to the Ugly Truth on Saturday. Should be good...

so apparently they left out the fight scene so that it wont be repetitive in the seventh movie.
as far as confusion goes, im sure they'll explain everything in the next two movies.
and yeah hogwarts, ron wasnt looking amazing in this movie.

Waah I actually haven't seen it yet! I'll be seeing it tomorrow though. For some reason, now that the books are done, I've sort of lost interest in the films.

Waah I actually haven't seen it yet! I'll be seeing it tomorrow though. For some reason, now that the books are done, I've sort of lost interest in the films. It's not because the books are done, it's because the films are generally shit. Cinematically stunning shit? Not eveeennn. I'll just never get over the casting of the trio, never. More of a shame than a sin (we know I'm all about sin).

Truer words have ne'er been spoken!
Wow. That shoelace thing was horrible horrible writing! So out of the blue, random, blatant, fanficcy, contrived. As were all the "romantic" scenes, and emotional Hermione scenes. Those kids need to learn to pull off long lingering looks and broken hearts.
Smirked at Dan Rad's "He trusted you!!!" - almost rivals "He was their friend!!!" x___x Yeah, and I don't like the girl who plays Ginny, she's completely void of everything. It's like she was trying to be mysterious...? And what was up with the non-stop laughter from the trio after the extremely lame joke (I can't even remember what it was)?
Lol, those are my first thoughts so they make no sense.
That said, Jim Broadbent was fab =) Love love love him. And I'll admit I laughed at Harry's upbeat "Hi!", and the pincers thing when he was with Hagrid.
I was surprised they spent so little time on the whole Snape-is-the-HBP, but whatever.

I must admit, nearly every one of my thoughts have been stated. I have to say though, I laughed when Dumbledore died, his falling in slow motion was just too much. That got me a few death stares. There were bits that bothered me, but I was surprised at how well done it was. I'm not sure whether it was because of my low expectations or that it really was good.
