Accio!

So I was watching the 4th movie again last week, and was watching the First task (Dragons). When he's running around and he uses accio to get his firebolt, why couldn't he just use accio on the dragon egg?
I don't really remember the details from the book as it's been a while since I've read it, but wouldn't have been easier to just use accio on the egg? Or was there a reason why he couldn't do that? I mean yea it wouldn't have been as exciting as reading him being chased by a dragon, but still wondering about it.

Good point! I can' remember off the top of my head whether that was explained but I would bet there was some sort of enchantment on it or something else it would hardly be a grand spectactle of a task XD

I was wondering the exact same thing. Also in the scene on the roof where his broom is hanging right above him and he desperately (and dramatically) reaches for it and in the nick of time gets it before the dragon comes to snap his head off. Yeah, why didn't he just use accio there? Would've been a tad faster and all. :

That's really interesting. I'm now curious, too. It might have been against the rules? I don't know.

The egg wouldn't have smashed if you said Accio. It would've just flown from the ground to your hand..at least that's what I would expect it to do.

There are a million examples of "why didn't they just -insert easier and less dramatic method here-" in HP, guess it's just cos it wouldn't make such good reading if everything was easy.

Yea I know it wouldn't make the reading as exciting. I mean he learns the Accio charm, wouldn't he be smart enough to be like hey, instead of flying around on a broomstick, I'll just use it to accio the egg. That's how I'd be at least lol. If I were in an intense competition like that, I'd find the fastest easiest way out instead of trying to show off.

If it were real, I'm sure the triwizard organisers would think of that, don't forget the rule was only those 17 or older were meant to enter. You can safely assume that they would have put some sort of charm on the egg to prevent that from being an option, although....he managed to accio the triwizard cup.....he should have just done that when he got inside the maze.....then cedric wouldn't have died.
Fucking hell Harry!!!

Harry is to scatter brained in that scene. He is to busy wondering "DUH why are we here *funny retard look* " Then after poor Cedric dies and Harry is stuck to the grave, he can clearly escape. (in the move at least) They could have tried harder on that scene. when I read the book It was much diffrent in my mind

Good point! I assume it was some sort of enchantment like others mentioned. That scene where the dragon chases Harry didn't really appeal to me, it was just ott.
