Found this from a thread over on Leaky and thought it was quite interesting so bringing it over! Interesting. But I think it was a coincidence. Unless JK told them to put it there, but I doubt people would notice at first glance.

It could well be coincidence but what a random one if so. I mean what are the chances they have a sphere with a vertical spike through it inside a triangle in Dumbledore's office. It's just not the kind of thing I can see them picking up in Portobello Road and thinking "Oooh this will be nice to dress the set with" - it's more likely to have been made by the props dept I'd have thought....
If I'd written the series I'd be putting all kind of little things like that, and in-jokes, etc, into the films - but maybe that's just me :-P

Maybe they put it in the film (or on the set) and Jk liked it and decided to make that the symbol?
