Whilst I don't think I want a whole new HP saga (although hellz, you know I'd still be waiting at midnight to buy it if she did) I really hope she does write this encyclopedia thing, I think it'll be awesome. OH something else about DH too, how horrific was it what they were doing to the Muggle-borns at the MoM. I was nearly bawling for that poor woman whose husband was supposed to meet her (except Ron was him) and GAH, Umbridge was just sickening. She should have died horribly.

Just finished reading the book. Later than I wanted, but atleast I got there I loved it, although some bits did disappoint me. I think she could've written the epilogue a tad better, it seems rather rushed to me... I shall probably post more tomorrow, as I'm very tired right now.

Well I have another day ill off work so I thought I may as well get some of my DH thoughts down at last! I thought the first chapter set the tone perfectly for the rest of the book, the body hanging above the table, then it turning out to be a teacher of Hogwarts, then Volds killing her and feeding her to the snake - so grisly and morbid. I knew it was going to be good from that moment on, though can you imagine parents reading that to their little kiddies - hardly starts off like a children's book!! Awwwww at Dudley and his tea bringing and all the 'where's he going??'ness. Not entirely sure where it all came from though. And what did Petunia almost say to Harry??? Gah! Loving the albino peacocks at the Malfoy manner - only they would haha!! So happy Lucius was out of Azkaban (Jason Isaacs for DH film whoop whoop!!! Oh god saw OotP yesterday and he was so hot mmmmmm) and glad to see the Malfoys make it through intact. Have to say though, being so wet doesn't really suit them. Fair play to Cissy though for covering for Harry and lying to Volds I would have liked to see them make some kind of stand at the end though, especially it would have been good to see Draco rally up some Slytherins to help at the final battle. This book really didn't help the 'all Slytherin's are evil' perspective that some people have by JK not leaving any of them to fight, which was a shame really as she could have worked in some anti-prejudice stuff in there. And yaaaaay for a little Harry/Draco slash in the book - like the bit on the broomstick, the references to Harry having Draco's wand (I wonder if he ever gave it back once he fixed his?) - and I like the think the nod in the epilogue meant something along the lines of "meet you in The Leaky Cauldron in half an hour for some hot brutal man sex" XD Who did Draco marry though?? And Scorpius?? Oh and Sev. My darling Sev. How I fought your corner for so long to the ignorant 'Snape is ebbbiilll ZOMG spazz' types, I always held faith in you I must say, thoroughly enjoying my 'told you so' moments ;D His death didn't wrench me apart as much as you'd think. I think being the last book makes it so much easier to deal with - I'm not really going to get a chance to miss Snape. Being eaten by a snake seems somewhat fitting but some part of me would have liked to see him go down in a blaze of glory just to get a proper reaction off Voldie and the people who doubted his alliegence. It does take this piss really that Snape's death didn't really achieve anything, he wasn't the wand's master and therefore his death was needless. Major kudos to Harry though for telling at the end though! I LOVED the Prince's Tale chapter, at least JK gave him a bit of book space as opposed to her 'oh, and by the way they're dead' that Remus and Tonks got palmed off with. Have to say, it was very convenient of Voldemort to give Harry that hour within which he could stick his head in a pensieve and soak up all the Snapey goodness. Oh I physically squeeeed to find out the Snapes and the Evans' grew up in the same town and that Sev and Lily were childhood friends, and that she called him Sev *melts* So adorable. It also now fits that 'the awful boy' that Petunia wants make reference to wasn't James as I thought, but Sev. Also, love how it puts the true perspective on the 'Snape's worst memory' chapter for most people, not about him flashing his pants, but calling her Mudblood and their friendship effectively coming to an end after that. I also loved when Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him and he says something along the lines of - "Would you like me to do it now, or would you like a few moments to compose an epitah" = why I love Snape so!!!! There was also a comment that Dumbledore made after Snape was saying about not running away like Karkaroff as he wasn't a coward. DD said something like "You're a much braver man. You know, sometimes I think we Sort too soon..." implying that Snape could have been in Gryffindor. It then goes on to say Snape looked stricken. Oh it makes me laugh to imagine his face when being told he'd make a good Gryffindor XD XD XD Oh Sev, I hope dead James Potter isn't such a knob and lets you get it on with afterlife Lily... I still find it weird that Harry named his kid Albus Severus though. OK, it is touching though still putrid. Snape still disliked Harry for being James' son and so much like him, yet at the same time though he was what kept Snape going. Just seems weird that Harry names a sprog after Snape and not say Remus or Sirius (poss James' middle name for one of them?) - though again, I suppose in actual fact Snape did more for Harry than either of those, he just didn't know it. Well Snape did it for Lily, but without his actions Harry would have been fucked on many occassion. Oh and the doe! I nearly wet my pants at that point as I figured out it must have been Snape's and therefore I was going to get my 'ha, Snape fooled you!' ending!! OK I;ve babbled a lot about Sev, but are you surprised, I shall move on now! Another little bit I loved was the sordid story between the Grey Lady and The Baron. So glad we found out why he was so bloody even though that was never a thought that particularly made me ponder - was just a nice surprise Can't be arsed to type anymore now - more ramblings later!

I haven't really got time to make a long post today, as I'm off to James' soon.
*But* I have to point out one thing that I almost cried at.
It's carrying on with Pinks Snape thing, actually.
Right before he dies, just after Harry has taken his memories, Snape says "Look ... at ... me ... "
At frist I didn't get it, then I remembered about Harry having his mums eyes...and clearly, Snape wanted Lily's eye (even if they're on Harry) to be the last thing he saw. How sweet!

Ahhhhhh, I completely forgot about that shit - like Pink said, when JK just casually swept all the Slytherin students away from the battle I was sordidly disappointed. Not one, JK? Not one? I know their parents are the Death Eaters but couldn't they have even stayed to fight along side them, even? She's tried hard in other books to represent the "other" half of Slytherin nature, not the 'evil-every-man-for-himself' side, and I do remember grimacing at that part where she blandly states that Slytherin table was left empty. That is prejudiced! Fucking Gryffindor loving bint. *eye roll* And of course Slytherin's hour-glass had to be the one smashed in half as well... At current, I'm attempting to erase the epilogue from my memory. Because it was that bad. xD I mean? Al Sev, Scorpius, and Lily (well Lily makes sense, but still)? Hugo and /Rose/ Weasley? ong flowurs so bootiful - the fuck? JK has so well-thought every name in her book but I guess by the end her brain was frazzled - she completely pulled that epilogue out of her asshole and sprayed perfume on it. Yuckkk. Or maybe I'm just mad because in my obsessive fanatic self had already planned my own names for all of their offspring and JK fucked that over (starting with Sebastian Lysander and Sevita Luciana Snape for Sevmione's runts )...

Another thing left unsaid from the epilogue that 'ties everything up perfectly.' =X

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/JK's today show interview is almost as insulting as the epilogue itself. Her excuse for what she, before fan reaction, claimed would 'tie it all up' - she intended to leave us in the mist (if that's so, I wish she would have left more names foggy too). I really, really hope the old version of the epilogue gets leaked XD So Harry and Ron are Aurors (*yawn*), Hermione too works in the ministry (*yawnyawn*), Luna travels around aimlessly (So much thought put in, JK), new Headmaster at Hogwarts whom she won't name (wouldn't Minerva kill her for that snarky age reference?), new DADA teacher who she won't name - but, Harry talks to him from time to time. How titillating. Not. =]

I totally need to stop net-stalking this interview because it's making me become resentful of JK...
"Would Snape have still helped Harry if he hadn't felt unrequited love for Harry's mother? Rowling said no way. More interestingly, she balked when Vieira asked her whether Snape was always intended to be a "hero." Rowling said she doesn't seem him as a "hero." He's brave, she said, but he's also spiteful and a bully."
YOU'RE THE BULLY, BITCH! Urghhhh.
I love how I think I understand his character more than the person who created him does. ;]

I love how I think I understand his character more than the person who created him does. ;] Ha ha ha! I was thinking that! I read the books and I simply said to myself that what I was reading was WRONG! Mainly the dumbledore bit! DUMBLEDORE WAS PERFECT! KIND AND FUNNY AND MUGGLE-LOVING! Not some self-centred deathly hallows hunter! It wasn't until I read her justification that I realised that he was a normal guy with great magical powers! Though I think so many people are angry at JK because its not how they expected. Everyone seen the ending to be a certain way and when it wasn't, everyone was snooty. And although it might not be perceived as great by some people, the bottom like is that its her book! One thing I must add is that some people at school are starting to get on my NERVES! One of my friends said the other day "Why would you read that book? I mean.... its so childish!" WHAT? NO ITS NOT! A book full of death, a book about a parent-less child and a soul splitting murder who is after him! A book practically about war and terrorism! I wouldn't never let my children read it!

Finished reading it a while ago, but here are my thoughts... I loved the book. I really and truly did. Severus's death and past made me cry. He never really disliked Mudbloods, did he? And when he says "Always." about his patronus, it was beautiful. And probably the most touching thing was when he asked Harry to look at him before he died, wanting to see Lily's eyes there. Fred, Lupin and Tonks's deaths were tragic. I really like Tonks, and its a shame that they never got to grow with their child. Dobby's death made me cry also. He always helped Harry and even took him to the Shell Cottage despite the blade in him. I love Bellatrix's death. I mean, I knew she was going to get her just desserts, but I loved how she made it exactly like Sirius's. GO MOLLY! OH! And I love J.K. Rowling for showing Sirius's room and have him come back for a bit. That letter that Lily wrote really touched me and the fact that Snape took the peice where she had writted her name and her picture made me have such a strong sense of wanting to hug him. Thanks Jo! And as for the epilouge, I liked it. Albus Severus owned me =] I just wish she talked about what jobs they had (besides Neville, of course). I mean, since Voldemorts dead, do they need Aurors? He employed so many people But I'm sure there are still dark wizards out there. And I would love to know who the Headmaster/misstress is. All in all, it was a great book, worth waiting 3+ hours in the heat for! Sad thats its the last one, but we'll just have to get over that.

I wouldn't never let my children read it! That means you would. Don't get me wrong, I love the book (hence loving rant on page 2) - I'm just someone who's severely bothered by the epilogue. Of course it's JK's narrative, and I trust her [almost] with full heart, but I still thought it left a little bit of a sour (for being so sweet?) tinge on my memory of the last 7 books. XD

Finished ‘Potter’? Rowling tells what happens next Exclusive: Author gives details on events after the book’s final epilogue
"Rowling said her original epilogue was “a lot more detailed,” including the name of every child born to the Weasley clan in the past 19 years. (Victoire, who was snogging Teddy — Lupin and Tonks’ son — is Bill and Fleur’s eldest.)
“But it didn’t work very well as a piece of writing,” Rowling said. “It felt very much that I had crowbarred in every bit of information I could … In a novel you have to resist the urge to tell everything.”
But now that the seventh and final novel is in the hands of her adoring public, Rowling no longer has to hold back any information about Harry Potter from her fans. And when 14 fans crowded around her in Edinburgh Castle in Scotland earlier this week as part of TODAY’s interview, Rowling was more than willing to share her thoughts about what Harry and his friends are up to now.
Harry, Ron and Hermione We know that Harry marries Ginny and has three kids, essentially, as Rowling explains, creating the family and the peace and calm he never had as a child.
As for his occupation, Harry, along with Ron, is working at the Auror Department at the Ministry of Magic. After all these years, Harry is now the department head.
“Harry and Ron utterly revolutionized the Auror Department,” Rowling said. “They are now the experts. It doesn’t matter how old they are or what else they’ve done.”
Meanwhile, Hermione, Ron’s wife, is “pretty high up” in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, despite laughing at the idea of becoming a lawyer in “Deathly Hallows.”
“I would imagine that her brainpower and her knowledge of how the Dark Arts operate would really give her a sound grounding,” Rowling said.
Harry, Ron and Hermione don’t join the same Ministry of Magic they had been at odds with for years; they revolutionize it and the ministry evolves into a “really good place to be.”
“They made a new world,” Rowling said.
The wizarding naturalist Luna Lovegood, the eccentric Ravenclaw who was fascinated with Crumple-Horned Snorkacks and Umgubular Slashkilters, continues to march to the beat of her own drum.
“I think that Luna is now traveling the world looking for various mad creatures,” Rowling said. “She’s a naturalist, whatever the wizarding equivalent of that is.”
Luna comes to see the truth about her father, eventually acknowledging there are some creatures that don’t exist.
“But I do think that she’s so open-minded and just an incredible person that she probably would be uncovering things that no one’s ever seen before,” Rowling said.
Luna and Neville Longbottom? It’s possible Luna has also found love with another member of the D.A.
When she was first asked about the possibility of Luna hooking up with Neville Longbottom several years ago, Rowling’s response was “Definitely not.” But as time passed and she watched her characters mature, Rowling started to “feel a bit of a pull” between the unlikely pair.
Ultimately, Rowling left the question of their relationship open at the end of the book because doing otherwise “felt too neat.”
Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom: “The damage is done.”
There is no chance, however, that Neville’s parents, who were tortured into madness by Bellatrix Lestrange, ever left St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies.
“I know people really wanted some hope for that, and I can quite see why because, in a way, what happens to Neville’s parents is even worse than what happened to Harry’s parents,” Rowling said. “The damage that is done, in some cases with very dark magic, is done permanently.”
Rowling said Neville finds happiness in his grandmother’s acceptance of him as a gifted wizard and as the new herbology professor at Hogwarts.
The fate of Hogwarts Nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry is led by an entirely new headmaster (“McGonagall was really getting on a bit”) as well as a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. That position is now as safe as the other teaching posts at Hogwarts, since Voldemort’s death broke the jinx that kept a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor from remaining for more than a year.
While Rowling didn’t clarify whether Harry, Ron and Hermione ever return to school to finish their seventh year, she did say she could see Harry popping up every now and again to give the “odd talk” on Defense Against the Dark Arts.
More details to come? Rowling said she may eventually reveal more details in a Harry Potter encyclopedia, but even then, it will never be enough to satisfy the most ardent of her fans.
“I’m dealing with a level of obsession in some of my fans that will not rest until they know the middle names of Harry’s great-great-grandparents,” she said. Not that she’s discouraging the Potter devotion!
“I love it,” she said. “I’m all for that.”

Thats cool! I didn't think that McGonagall would become head of hogwarts, too old!
I liked that information as well! Plus I still think there would be dark wizards out and about, there always is!
Plus yes, I ment I wouldn't let my children read the seventh book.
Plus does anyone know what part of the book from the cover art (on the US copy) is from? I know what part the UK bit is from.

Yeah McGonagall couldn't possibly become head of Hogwarts cos she's too old, Dumbledore was, of course, only in his 20s....

Maybe the cover art is from his final battle with Voldemort, because of all the people around them. But that wouldnt make sense if you opened out the whole thing, which looks like they are fighting together.
